Roland-Garros 2025: A Memorable Run for Hugo Nys and Édouard Roger-Vasselin

At the 2025 edition of Roland-Garros, Hugo Nys and Édouard Roger-Vasselin delivered a performance that will long be remembered by Monegasque and French tennis fans alike. The duo, combining the Monegasque and the Frenchman, advanced all the way to the men’s doubles semi-finals, marking one of the highlights of their season.

An Impressive Journey at Porte d’Auteuil

Entering the tournament with determination, Nys and Roger-Vasselin overcame several top-level pairs to reach the final four:

  • In the first round, they secured a hard-fought victory against Ariel Behar and Joran Vliegen after coming back from a difficult opening set.

  • In the third round, the pair produced one of the tournament’s biggest upsets by defeating the top seeds, Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavić, in a thrilling three-set match.

  • In the quarter-finals, facing Sander Arends and Luke Johnson, Hugo and Édouard once again demonstrated their experience and strong partnership.

A Fierce Battle in the Semi-Finals

On Thursday, 5 June 2025, on Court Suzanne-Lenglen, the Monegasque-French duo fought a hard battle against the formidable team of Marcel Granollers (ESP) and Horacio Zeballos (ARG). After winning the first set in a tie-break, Nys and Roger-Vasselin eventually bowed out in three sets (6–7(5), 6–3, 6–4), following a closely contested encounter.

Although their journey came to an end in the semi-finals, the path taken by Hugo Nys and Édouard Roger-Vasselin remains a great source of pride for Monaco and for all tennis enthusiasts.
