JULY 2023 - WELCOME TO WIMBLEDON

Players - Monegasque Tennis Federation

The month of July was marked by one of the biggest tournaments on the calendar: Wimbledon.
Two players from the Monégasque Tennis Federation participated: Romain Arneodo and Hugo Nys!

Hugo NYS (ATP Doubles Ranking: 13th as of July 31, 2023)
With his partner Jan Zielinski, Hugo Nys achieved two impressive victories, reaching the third round at Wimbledon.
Here's their journey:
Round of 64: Victory 6/3 - 6/4 against Mackenzie McDonald and Ben Shelton
Round of 32: Victory 7/6 - 6/4 against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Adrian Mannarino
Round of 16: Defeat 4/6 - 3/6 against Jamie Murray and Michael Venus
Now, it's time for the American tour!

Romain ARNEODO (ATP Doubles Ranking: 52nd as of July 31, 2023)
First victory for Romain and Sam Weissborn at Wimbledon! They won against the pair of Hugo Dellien and Juan Pablo Varillas (6/3 - 6/4) before falling to Belgian compatriots Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen (6/4 - 4/6).
Romain and Sam then proceeded to the quarter-finals in Gstaad and the first round in Umag, Croatia.
Romain is heading to the USA next!

Valentin VACHEROT (ATP Singles Ranking: 261st as of July 31, 2023)
Valentin had three Challenger tournaments on his schedule for July. The first one in Iasi, Romania: he was defeated in the second round by the 124th-ranked player, Christian Garin, with a score of 6/7 - 2/6. Moving on to the cool climate of Tampere, Finland, where Valentin was eliminated in the third round. Last year's quarter-finalist, Valentin came close to replicating the same result in 2023 at San Marino.

1st qualifying round: Victory 6/2 - 6/4 against Carlo Alberto Caniato
2nd qualifying round: Victory 6/3 - 6/4 against Lorenzo Rottoli
Round of 32: Victory 6/2 - 6/3 against Zdenek Kolar (171st)
Round of 16: Defeat 4/6 - 6/3 - 6/7 against Alexander Weis

Lucas CATARINA (ATP Singles Ranking: 441st as of July 31, 2023)
After reaching the quarter-finals in Rosario-Santa Fe, Lucas Catarina participated in another tournament in Argentina, the ATP Challenger in Santa Fe. He then returned to Great Britain for the Nottingham tournament, where he was eliminated in the second round. After a busy first half of the year, it's time to prepare for the second Davis Cup match of the year, at home!

Welcome to the website of the Monegasque Tennis Federation. 

The Monegasque Federation contributes to create ties between Federations and foreign clubs as well as to federate the clubs of the Principality, currently five of them. Affiliated to the International Tennis Federation, its national team compete in the prestigious Davis Cup competition since 1929.
